JRM Gives Back

Giving back is an intrinsic part of JRM. Last year the team participated in a number of charitable activities, and with the help of our valued clients & industry contacts we managed to raise a significant amount for some incredible causes.

We kicked off the year by supporting the Buildcorp Foundation raising much needed funds to tackle the mental health crisis that our country is facing. Sadly, mental health is a prevalent issue in the hospitality industry, so it was a fitting fundraiser to be a part of.

As always, Buildcorp put the FUN in fundraising with a spectacular banquet at the Sukkar Family residence. Over $600,000 was raised which was a spectacular result. Our support of the Buildcorp foundation didn’t end there. JRM donated a private dining experience for 10 hosted by James & Wallaby Bernard Foley.

Next up was OzHarvest. We hosted a fabulous ‘eat, drink & give back’ night in our private event space at Saint George a great selection of our clients and valued members of the industry. We surpassed our goal which was to raise over $10,000 which translates into over 20,000 meals for those in need. Great result!

Following this, James spent the night cooking for over 1,400 vulnerable Australians. This is the 3rd year JRM has supported OzHarvest.

Last year we continued our support of the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to assist with the rebuild of their cafe, which acts as a relaxation space for families during some pretty tough times. We will continue to support the SCHF in 2020… Watch this space!

We had the opportunity to support some of our clients fundraising initiatives including sponsoring two golf holes raising funds for the Special Olympics & the Cancer Council, supporting Justin North’s Variety Bash at the Hyatt, supporting the Coogee Bay Hotel golf day raising funds for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation and supported CBA in their fundraising efforts.

The entire JRM head office team (and some tag alongs!) ventured down to Coogee Beach to support the Coogee Bay Hotel Clean Up Coogee Day’. It was a great team building experience which was followed by a hearty breakfast at the Coogee Bay Hotel.

A highlight of the year for James was donating his time for the Exodus Foundation & Rev Bill Crews. He volunteered at their Christmas in July event, hosted by Alex Adams, cooking a traditional Christmas dinner for 500 poor and homeless people in Sydney.

We truly loved supporting such a wide range of courses throughout 2019 & can’t wait to keep going in 2020!
