Juan’s Top Tips to Working Front of House

Juan Picoaga is our front of house trainer at JRM hospitality. He originates from Peru and now calls Australia home. Hospitality is in his blood and he has 15 years of hospitality experience. Juan’s speciality is hosting sophisticated events for clients such as Louis Vuitton, Mercedes and Myer. Juan shares his top five principles for working front of house so we can bring a memorable service to our clients.

1. Bring A Positive Attitude By always taking a positive attitude you can make all the difference to an event, the people around you and leave a lasting memory, so you get called back for more work in the future. 2. Bring A Can do Work Ethic  Work ethic is at the top of Juan’s agenda. Hospitality is a fast-paced industry that you need to keep up with. By taking a hands-on approach, it can allow you to overcome situations quickly and efficiently and inspire your team. 3. Be Eager To Learn  No question is a stupid question. By showing an eagerness to learn boosts your knowledge and productivity. 4. Appearance     It is better to be overdressed than underdressed and be sure to communicate with your front of house manager on the uniform requirements if you are unsure. 5. Organisation You cannot be in two places at once, so it’s essential that you can prioritise effectively, enabling you to work as efficiently as possible. This will ensure your customers get the very best dining experience.
